In 1999, the Trading Party recreated the imprisonment of two Paspehegh Indians, Kemps and Tassore, in the fort at Jamestown Settlement. Captain John Smith captured the two Paspeheghs in 1609, which he described as "two of the most exact villians in all the country..." Later that winter when Smith had discovered their corn supply greatly diminished by rats, he released Kemps and Tassore becaues he could not feed them. Apparently a friendship had arose between the two Paspeheghs and their captors because after their release, they returned with their families bringing much needed food supplies to the settlers.
