News and Information
The mission of the Matilda Joslyn Gage Foundation is to promote an increased understanding of the life, work, times and co-workers of Matilda Joslyn Gage. We emphasize the ongoing relevance of her issues, including her contribution to the women’s rights movement, her work as an abolitionist, her relationship with the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois), her influence on the work of L. Frank Baum, and her commitment to free religious thought and the separation of church and state. To carry out this mission, we will own, preserve and maintain her historic home for programming, education and research. The Foundation recently purchased Gage’s home in Fayetteville, New York, and will soon begin restoration.
The Matilda Joslyn Gage Foundation, Inc. is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization.
