Matilda Joslyn Gage Conference
March 24-26, 2000
Fayetteville, New York

The second Matilda Joslyn Gage conference will be held the weekend of March 24-26, 2000, in Fayetteville, New York, the Syracuse suburb where Gage lived most of her life. Her birthday is March 25.

The conference is sponsored by the Matilda Joslyn Gage Foundation, in cooperation with the Syracuse University Women's Studies program, the Fayetteville Free Library, the Village of Fayetteville, and the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce. The conference will feature, among other events: artists' original works inspired by Gage, a panel of Gage biographers, and a report on current Internet communications involving Gage's views and the religious right.

Conference activities will include tours of Gage's Fayetteville home and local sites of significance in her life, research-focused visits to nearby historical institutions archiving Gage materials, a discussion meeting for women's studies scholars and historians, a reception for Gage's descendants, and a closing Sunday brunch and wrap-up.
