A heads-up to circle the date March 24, 2000 on your calendar. Not only is it Matilda Joslyn Gage's birthday, but it marks the opening of the second Matilda Joslyn Gage conference, to be held in the village of Fayetteville, New York, where she lived most of her life.

            At the moment, we'd like to get a tentative head count to know approximately how many rooms to block book at the nearby Craftsman Inn (7300 East Genesee St. Fayetteville, 315-637-8000). Also please let us know now what you'd like to see happen at the conference and if you're thinking of presenting something.

            In addition to papers and discussions, events will include:

Walking tour of Gage sites in Fayetteville
Driving (self) tour of Gage sites in the area
Visit to Seneca Falls
Tours of research facilities containing Gage materials
